York University’s School of Continuing Studies is undertaking a search for its Director, Continuing Professional Education – a key member of the Senior Management Team for the School of Continuing Studies who plays a vital role in envisioning and driving the Institute’s national status and global leadership ambitions.

This role is responsible for providing leadership to the School’s Continuing Professional Education portfolio, which includes direct supervision of an Associate Director, Strategic Projects and Partnership Development, Program Managers, Market Research Analysts, and a Manager of Program Support who supervises seven and Program Coordinators. In addition, the role has indirect accountability for central marketing, registration, finance, and IT team members to ensure the professional education strategic objectives are achieved with the input and support of a cross-functional team within the school. The Program Managers that report to the Director recruit, hire, and performance-manage 60-100 part-time instructors.
The Director provides overall direction and leadership to the program selection, curriculum development, and operations of the continuing professional education portfolio within the School of Continuing Studies. This includes responsibility for strategic & business planning, relationship building, human resource management, finances, marketing, market research, program development and delivery. In addition, this position leads the process to identify new market-driven professional education programs, forecasting which programs will be successful, championing them through the approval process, and supervising the development and management of programs to meet enrolment and financial targets.
The Director is responsible for managing a large, complex portfolio of non-credit continuing education programs in different formats (full-time, part-time, intensive) and modalities (in-class, online and blended). The Director will provide strategic planning, direction and oversight of the quality and execution of programs. The Director will respond to student complaints and academic appeals for programs taught by continuing education instructors. The Director is a member of the School of Continuing Studies senior management team and works closely with School staff, faculty and staff in other departments and external employers, groups and partners.
